In 1945, then District Governor Art Frazie of the Dowagiac,
Michigan, USA, Rotary Club designed and promoted a "Service
Above Self' recognition award called the "Red Rose Award."
The Red Rose Award continues to be a living personal service
citation program. It praises outstanding achievement, giving
recognition while the recipient is yet providing service. After
the award is given at a Rotary meeting, the recipient's
outstanding service is duly recorded, becoming part of a
permanent file. Rotary members who follow may emulate the
example in hope of making the community and world a better place
in which to live.
Many Rotary clubs now use this Red Rose Award for Rotarians and
non-Rotarians annually. If you would like
